Guitar Hero 2 help....

anyone having problems with their guitar for the xbox? mine is playing by itself, it's pushing it's own buttons and pissing me off. I took it apart, and checked all the connections...everything looked fine. Tried my buddies controller (which works fine on his xbox) but does the same thing on my xbox. It's not the game itself cause it does this even when i'm at the dashboard, so i'm guessing usb issue, but i can't find anything out there. If anyone has any information, it would be most appreciated.
