Console Wars...

I remember back when XBox and PS2 were released, xbox was the clear choice for most gamers. This is until the GTA series was introduced and was only available as a Playstation exclusive. I had many friends move over to PS2 just for that game. For RPG fans, the Final Fantasy series also gave Sony a huge advantage. XBOX still maintained it's ground with Halo 3 and other Microsoft-Exclusive titles.

I currently own a PS2. I have considered getting the latest generation consoles (PS3 & XBOX 360), but there are just not enough cool games to really justify spending all that $$. With that being said, there are a few titles which are out or coming soon that make it tempting:
XBOX360: Halo 3, Ace Combat 6, and Virtua Fighter 5.
PLAYSTATION 3: MGS4, Final Fantasy XIII, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

Other factors to consider are:
XBOX 360 will release Ninja Gaiden II, which has improvements over Sigma.
XBOX 360 is cheaper.
Playstation 3 uses blueray, which is winning the battle vs HD-DVD right now.
Playstation 3 has one console for high-definition movies and games.

It seems to me they are a close tie. I've always tilted more towards Sony for their extensive library of games and vendor support, but now I am tilting more for Microsoft for variety. Since I don't have too much time to play video games, I would like to buy just one system.

For those of you who own both systems (PS3 & XBOX 360), which one do you find yourself playing more?

Well, PS2 always had a vantage against Xbox, since the begining. And for the new generation, if I have money, I will for the PS3, If I have muchhhh money I will go with PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360, hehehehehehhe, and a big LCD TV!

For now, I keep my loved PS2!

Why would you buy the PS3 over the XBOX 360?

Well, first is because I prefer the PS3, second because its has a better hardware, and third, because of the future games.

In my opinion, I would chose the PS3, why? well because the following reasons:

The PS3 has everything from scratch to start (HDMI, Hard Disc, Blu Ray Player, Bluetooht, 1000BASE-T Ethernet, IEEE 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Flash card readers, PSP connectivity), besides the PS3 will be no longer 600 dollars, it has been said that for holiday seasons the 60GB version will cost 500. Also you can install LInux in it

Getting a XBOX360 with the equivalent features of the PS3 will cost around 650-750 dls. (lots of add-ons)

In the end you chose what you prefer, both consoles have the enough power to emulate almost every system released after the 1995. If you like FPS, Sport, Racing and adventure games go for the 360. If you like RPGs, FPS, Sports, Racing, adventure, Anime Games, and other more genres go for the PS3.

If I had the money, I'll buy the XBOX360 only for one game: Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 (Wa ha ha ha sexy chicks

That's still half a grand for a gaming system... Got my Bluray Sony laptop coming in the mail, which is a bit more than that, but it will get more use than a PS3.

My choice would be for a PS3, for the better hardware, but the problem with the ps3 is the lack of games... At the moment the PS3 catalog has got just 2 titles in which I am interested and even when MGS4 and FFXIII will come out, I don't think I'm going to spend the more-than-500€ here in europe (so much more than 500$) for being able to play only 4-5 games.
Maybe I'll wait for the slim PS3, just as I did for the PS2 :P

I've got a 360 and a Wii and frankly, I don't regret buying either one bit. Yes, the Wii does not get anywhere near the amount of playtime that the 360 does, but when certain Wii games have or will come out (Zelda, Mario Galaxy, Metroid, Smash Bros, to name a few), the Wii gets the shit played out of it. As for 360, I have had many good experiences with it. Lots of games that are enjoyable now, and many more coming it would seem. Personally, PS3 doesn't do it for me. Yes, it has Blu-Ray, but honestly, I could not care less about that. Where are the games? We keep hearing they're coming, but will it be enough? Hell, I want to play MGS4, but outside of that, I don't really see any must-haves (in my opinion of course). And while it seems that Blu-Ray may win the format war, it's far from over according to most people.

Anyway...the xbox 360 & the ps3 are great consoles, BUT...currently both have issues.
the 360 with the 3 rings of death, so until microsoft release the new model (Falcon, i think) but it at your own risk.
The ps3 with the lack of great games.

So...imo if you only have the money to buy one...you`ll have to wait a little.

I have both a PS3 and an XBOX 360. During the last console war i was very much a fan of PS2 (I didn't like many xbox games the only ones i did like were halo and halo 2 and it's not worth buying a console for 2 games). I was expecting to like the PS3 more than the 360 just like with the last gen consoles. But i found myself playing halo 3 on xbox live much more than i play my ps3. There just isn't enough decent games on the ps3 as of yet. But there will be. FFXIII, MGS4, Silent hill 5,Resident Evil 5. Can't wait

Actually Final Fantasy XIII and Resident Evil 5 are also going to be released for the XBOX 360, plus the 360 has some very good exclusive games, like Mass Effect (Plus upcoming Mass Effect 2 & 3), Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and the upcoming Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Yeah I love rpg's.

By the way, whatever happened to the FFXIII exclusive for the PS3, why did they decide to release it for the 360 too? Things are looking bad for sony indeed.

Yeah that sucked. I bought my PS3 for the exclusives. I already have a wii and an xbox 360. But now that they are all coming out on other consoles it seams that i wasted mmoney on my ps3. But then again since I have all 3 consoles, I am able to get all of the best versions of the non exclusive games. I mean, unless the xbox 360 version has extras that the ps3 version doesn't, then the ps3 version is usually the obvious winner due to it's power. But unless the developers actually utilize the PS3s capabilities then it could be better on the xbox or the wii. It really depends on the game. I mean, I'd probably much rather the ps3 version of mg4 than the xbox version. Sure it installs data onto the harddrive 5 times during the game, but at least i don't have to juggle discs.

I dont know much about the PS3 (not having one myself) but screen shots and game play seems to be much like the 360 without much difference. When My 360 went out due to the RED LIGHT SYNDROME, I was sent a mailer and was out of a 360 for only a week. Replaced free of charge. I was told by more than one person at the GAME STOP store the Sony company isn't as friendly. We have a Wii put up for the kids for christmas and will see how that system is. The only game I would want to play that will be an exclusive will be God of War 3. The other 2 were fantastic games!!!
