File Access

Hi There. Was wondering if anyone could help me! Without wanting to sound stupid. When i save an image and then try to access it it tells me Windows does not know how to open the file! Any clues!!

Does the file have a file extension on it? What I mean is, when you save it, does it have .jpg after it or .tif ? If not, rename it with the appropriate file extension.
